About Feed-In Tariffs (FITs)

Feed In Tariffs are payments made by the Energy Companies to anyone who installs a system generating their own electricity, including Wind Turbines and Solar Photovoltaics (PV). Backed by the UK Government, these tariffs are aimed at increasing the amount of Renewable Energy produced and used in the UK. The ultimate goal is to increase the total percentage of energy that comes from renewable sources from 2% (in 2009) to at least 15% by 2020.

Do you want to know how you make money from owning your own Solar Panel system? Have you heard about something called the Feed-in Tariff but haven’t got a clue how this can translate into money? EnergyLink are here to help you understand how you can make and save money with a Solar PV system, and why the new Feed-in Tariff is better than the grant scheme previously offered by the Government.

Feed In Tariffs Explained

FITs allow homeowners to make money during daylight hours, without having to lift a finger.

They offer payments for ALL electricity generated by Solar Energy systems and extra payments for any surplus power exported to the grid.

Those who invest in Solar Power can also enjoy the added bonus of cheaper energy bills by using the electricity they generate for free.

Grants for Solar PV

While the UK’s Solar grants programme ended in 2010, there are a number of financial benefits which make PV panels well worth investing in.

Instead of having part of the initial cost of installation covered by the Government, the Feed-In Tariffs mean you will not only recoup the initial expenditure of buying the Solar PV system but you will continue to earn money on the electricity produced for the life of your system.

Even though there are no UK-wide grants to help buy your Solar PV system, with the guidance of EnergyLink, we can show you how solar panels will work for you, your bank balance and for the environment.
